Oldham Couplings

Oldham couplings use two metal hubs and a sliding centre disc, usually acetal or nylon, to take large parallel misalignment in a short body while keeping torque transmission smooth. The centre disc is a wearing part and acts as a mechanical fuse, protecting the motor and the driven shaft. Common on stepper and servo axes, linear modules and pumps where shafts cannot be aligned perfectly.
