Jaw and Spider Couplings

Jaw couplings, also called spider or plum-blossom couplings, transmit torque through a polyurethane elastomer spider clamped between two metal hubs. The spider damps vibration and shock, tolerates angular and parallel misalignment, and keeps the drive electrically isolated. Backlash-free versions are used on servo and stepper axes; standard versions on pumps, fans and general drives. Available in aluminium alloy and 45# steel, with clamp, set-screw or expansion-sleeve hubs, and in several spider hardnesses.
