The Siemens 6ES7288-3AR04-0AA0 is an EM AR04 RTD module for the SIMATIC S7-200 SMART, reading four resistance thermometers with 0.1 degree resolution.
Four RTD channels on one module suits multi-zone temperature control – extruder barrels, drying ovens, heat exchangers and pasteurisers – where each zone needs its own measurement and the panel has no room for four separate transmitters.
EM expansion modules clip onto the right-hand side of an S7-200 SMART SR, ST or G2 CPU and are recognised automatically – the module takes the next free address range and needs no switches or jumpers. Up to six EM modules can be added to one CPU, in any mix of digital and analog, so a machine that outgrows its controller can be extended without replacing it. The economic CR-series CPUs do not accept expansion modules.
