The SKF 6200-2Z/C3 is a single row deep groove ball bearing with a 10 mm bore, 30 mm outside diameter and 9 mm width, fitted with a non-contact metal shield on both sides (2Z) and C3 radial internal clearance. It belongs to the SKF Explorer performance class and, per SKF, carries a basic dynamic load rating of 5.4 kN and a basic static load rating of 2.36 kN.
The designation can be read directly: 6 = single row deep groove ball bearing, 2 = ISO dimension series 02 (light), the most widely used series, balancing size and load capacity; 00 = bore code for 10 mm; 2Z = shields on both sides; C3 = radial internal clearance greater than normal.
Shields leave a narrow gap to the inner ring, so friction stays low and SKF lists a limiting speed of 28,000 r/min for this version, compared with 17,000 r/min for the sealed 6200-2RSH/C3. That makes the 2Z design the usual choice for electric motors, fans and other clean, fast-running positions.

- Like-for-like replacement of a worn SKF 6200-2Z/C3
Compatibility and replacement
Every 6200 bearing made to ISO 15 has the same 10 x 30 x 9 mm boundary dimensions, so this bearing fits wherever a 6200 with shields and C3 clearance from another maker was used. Suffixes differ between brands: shields are often marked ZZ or 2Z, contact seals 2RS, 2RS1, DDU or LLU, and the clearance C3 may appear as “C3” or “/C3”. Always match the sealing arrangement and the clearance class shown on the old bearing; if your machine needs the other closure, the 6200-2RSH/C3 is the same size.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between 6200-2Z/C3 and 6200-2RSH/C3?
Only the closures. The 6200-2Z has non-contact steel shields; the 2RSH version has contact rubber seals. Per SKF, the limiting speed is 28,000 r/min for 2Z and 17,000 r/min for 2RSH; the load ratings are the same. Choose shields for speed and low friction, seals for dirt and moisture.
Which shaft and housing does it fit?
A 10 mm shaft seat and a 30 mm housing bore, with 9 mm of axial space. The exact fit tolerances depend on the load and on which ring rotates, so follow the machine drawing or the old bearing seat.
What does C3 mean, and can I use a bearing without it?
C3 is a radial internal clearance greater than normal. It leaves room for the inner ring to expand with a tight shaft fit or with heat, which is why electric motors and hot-running machines often specify it. Fit the clearance class the machine maker specifies or that is marked on the old bearing; do not swap C3 for normal clearance without checking.
