The Omron E5CC-CX2ASM-000 is a digital temperature controller in the 48 by 48 mm DIN panel size, with a linear current output, two auxiliary relay outputs, a 100 to 240 VAC supply, screw terminals and a universal input. It is the model for driving an analogue actuator, a valve positioner or a power controller.
The E5CC is the controller that sits in the door of the panel on anything that has to hold a temperature: an extruder barrel, a shrink tunnel, an oven, a sealing bar, a drying chamber, a plating bath. It accepts almost any sensor without changing hardware, it auto-tunes its own PID loop, and its two displays show the measured value and the setpoint at the same time so an operator can see at a glance whether the process is on target.

Model Code
Reading E5CC-CX2ASM-000 from the left: E5CC is the 48 by 48 mm body; the first pair of letters is the control output type, RX for relay, QX for a voltage pulse to drive an SSR and CX for linear current; 2 is the number of auxiliary outputs; A is the 100 to 240 VAC supply; S is screw terminals; M is the universal input; and the final three digits are the option code, 000 meaning no heater-burnout alarm, no communications and no event inputs.
Available Models
| Model | Control output | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| E5CC-RX2ASM-000 | Relay, SPST-NO 250 VAC 3 A | Switching a contactor or a heater directly |
| E5CC-QX2ASM-000 | Voltage pulse for SSR | Driving a solid-state relay on a fast heater loop |
| E5CC-CX2ASM-000 | Linear current | Feeding an analogue actuator or valve positioner |
Versions with RS-485 communications, heater burnout and SSR failure alarms, event inputs and push-in terminals are also made, as are the larger E5EC at 48 by 96 mm and E5AC at 96 by 96 mm. Tell us the code on the controller being replaced and we will match the exact variant.
Choosing the Output Type
Use the relay output where the controller switches a contactor and the process is slow, such as an oven or a tank. Use the voltage pulse output with a solid-state relay where the heater is small and fast and the controller would otherwise cycle a mechanical relay to death, such as a sealing bar or an extruder zone. Use the linear current output where the final control element is analogue, such as a thyristor power controller or a valve positioner.
Typical Applications
- Extruder and injection moulding barrel zones
- Shrink tunnels, sealing bars and heat-sealing jaws on packaging lines
- Ovens, dryers and curing chambers
- Tank, bath and jacketed vessel temperature control
- Retrofit replacement of an older analogue or single-display controller
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Omron E5CC-CX2ASM-000?
It is a 48 by 48 mm digital temperature controller with a linear current output, two auxiliary relay outputs and a universal sensor input, powered from 100 to 240 VAC.
Which sensors can I connect?
Thermocouple types K, J, T, E, L, U, N, R, S, B, W and PL II, and Pt100 or JPt100 platinum resistance thermometers. The input type is selected in the parameters, not by changing hardware.
What is the difference between the RX, QX and CX models?
RX has a mechanical relay output, QX a voltage pulse output for driving a solid-state relay, and CX a linear current output. Everything else is the same.
What panel cutout does it need?
A 45 mm square cutout, plus 0.6 mm and minus 0, with at least 60 mm of depth behind the panel.
Is it protected against wash-down at the front?
The front panel is rated IP66 and the rear case IP20, so the face tolerates splashing while the terminals must stay inside a dry enclosure.
Does it support communications?
This option code does not include communications. RS-485 versions are available; send us the requirement and we will quote the matching code.
