The Omron CP2E-N40DR-A is a CP2E-N type network model compact PLC CPU unit with 40 built-in I/O: 24 24 V DC inputs and 16 relay outputs, powered from 100 to 240 V AC. Per the Omron CP2E data sheet it has a program capacity of 10K steps and a data memory of 16K words, and accepts up to 3 CP1W expansion units for a maximum of 160 I/O points.
The N-type is the network model of the CP2E: Omron lists two built-in Ethernet ports with a switching function for machine-to-machine communication, up to three serial ports with option boards, and four-axis positioning with linear interpolation on the N30/40/60 transistor models. The CP2E runs battery-free, supports function blocks in ladder and structured text, and is programmed with CX-Programmer (CX-One). It is the successor to the popular CP1E.

Compatibility and replacement
The N-type connects to HMIs, SCADA and other PLCs over Ethernet. Programs from CP1E can be converted in CX-Programmer, but check I/O and special functions after conversion. Relay outputs (DR) switch AC or DC loads; for high-speed pulse outputs choose a transistor (DT) model.
