What is the difference between 6301-2RSH/C3 and 6301-2Z/C3?
Only the closures. The 6301-2Z has non-contact steel shields; the 2RSH version has contact rubber seals. Per SKF, the limiting speed is 22,000 r/min for 2Z and 14,000 r/min for 2RSH; the load ratings are the same. Choose shields for speed and low friction, seals for dirt and moisture.
Is it the same as a 6301ZZ or 6301-2RS from another brand?
Dimensionally yes: all 6301 bearings share 12 x 37 x 12 mm under ISO 15. A ZZ marking corresponds to the 2Z shielded design and 2RS to this sealed design; load ratings and speeds differ between makers, and the figures on this page are the SKF values.
What does C3 mean, and can I use a bearing without it?
C3 is a radial internal clearance greater than normal. It leaves room for the inner ring to expand with a tight shaft fit or with heat, which is why electric motors and hot-running machines often specify it. Fit the clearance class the machine maker specifies or that is marked on the old bearing; do not swap C3 for normal clearance without checking.
