The Siemens 6ES7288-5BA01-0AA0 is an SB BA01 battery signal board that keeps the real-time clock of an S7-200 SMART CPU running while the machine is powered down.
Without it, a CPU that has been switched off for a long shutdown comes back with the wrong date and time, which matters for batch records, shift counters, time-based recipes and any data logging. The board takes a standard CR1025 lithium cell and holds the clock for about a year.
A signal board plugs into the recess in the front face of the CPU, so it adds function without adding a single millimetre to the width of the controller. Every expandable S7-200 SMART CPU takes exactly one signal board, and it can be fitted alongside the six EM expansion modules.
