The Airtac ACQ50X50S is a double-acting compact cylinder from the AirTAC ACQ series, built to JIS, with a 50 mm bore, 50 mm stroke, female (internal) thread on the piston rod and with magnet (S). The short body is held together by C-clips, the bore is roller-burnished and hard-anodised, and switch slots run around the barrel.
Reading the code: ACQ = compact cylinder (double acting), 50×50 = bore x stroke in mm, S = with magnet; no B means female rod thread; no further suffix means no mounting accessory and the standard PT port thread.

Typical applications
- Lifting and indexing units on assembly lines
- Short-stroke pushers and stoppers in tight spaces
- Gate and flap actuation on packaging machines
- Clamping and locating on jigs and fixtures
- Like-for-like replacement of an Airtac ACQ50X50S
Compatibility and replacement
ACQ cylinders follow the JIS compact-cylinder standard, so the 50 mm bore shares its basic envelope with JIS compact cylinders of other brands; still compare overall length, rod thread and mounting holes before swapping makes. If you need a male rod thread instead, the same size is ordered as ACQ50X50SB (magnet and male thread) or ACQ50X50B (male thread, no magnet).
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between ACQ50X50S and ACQ50X50B?
S means the piston carries a magnet for cylinder switches; B means the piston rod has a male thread instead of a female one. This ACQ50X50S has a magnet and a female thread.
Can it take side load?
It should not. AirTAC advises keeping side load off the cylinder in operation and notes that the short front cover and piston limit the usable stroke; use a guided cylinder (such as the TCL/TCM series) or an external guide for offset loads.
How much force does it give?
At 0.5 MPa the 50 mm bore gives about 981.7 N pushing and 824.7 N pulling (20 mm rod), per AirTAC data. Size with spare capacity if the load varies.
