Delta VFD, Servo, PLC and HMI Model Code Guide

This guide explains how to read Delta Electronics part numbers for variable frequency drives, AC servo drives and motors, DVP programmable logic controllers and DOP human machine interfaces. It is written for maintenance engineers and buyers who have a model number on a nameplate and need the right replacement.

Delta VFD model numbers

Delta uses two model number formats. The legacy power code format covers VFD-L, VFD-M, VFD-E, VFD-EL, VFD-B, VFD-S, VFD-F, VFD-VE, C2000 and CP2000. The newer current code format covers MS300, ME300 and MH300.

Power code format

The pattern is VFD, then the power code, then the series, then the voltage and phase code, then a version letter and an optional enclosure suffix.

Field المعنى Examples

Delta AC servo drive model numbers

The pattern is ASD, then the series, then the power code, then the voltage and phase code, then the model type letter.

Field المعنى Examples
Series Servo family B2, B3, A2, A3, E3, M, W3
Power code Rated output power 01 is 100 W, 04 is 400 W, 07 is 750 W, 10 is 1 kW, 15 is 1.5 kW, 20 is 2 kW, 30 is 3 kW

Worked example: ASD-A2-0721-M is an ASDA-A2 servo drive, 750 W, 220 V single or three-phase, with CANopen.

Delta servo motor model numbers

The ECMA range pairs with the ASDA-B2 and ASDA-A2. The ECM-B3M and ECM-E3M ranges pair with the ASDA-B3 and ASDA-E3.

Field المعنى Examples
Voltage and rated speed letter First letter after ECMA C is 220 V at 3000 rpm, E is 220 V at 2000 rpm, F is 220 V at 1500 rpm, G is 220 V at 1000 rpm
Encoder digit Second character 1 is 20-bit incremental, 2 is 17-bit incremental, A is absolute, M is magnetic
Frame size Flange size in millimetres 04 is 40 mm, 06 is 60 mm, 08 is 80 mm, 13 is 130 mm, 18 is 180 mm
Power Rated output power 01 is 100 W, 04 is 400 W, 07 is 750 W, 30 is 3 kW
Shaft and brake option Shaft type, oil seal and brake R is keyway with tapped hole and oil seal, no brake; S is the same with a 24 V DC holding brake
Shaft diameter code Shaft size S is the standard diameter for that frame

Worked example: ECMA-C20807SS is a 220 V 3000 rpm motor with a 17-bit encoder, 80 mm flange, 750 W, keyway shaft with oil seal and a holding brake fitted, standard shaft diameter.

One point that causes frequent ordering mistakes: the 1 or 2 after the first letter is the encoder type, not the speed. ECMA-C10604RS and ECMA-C20604RS are the same 400 W, 3000 rpm, 1.27 N.m motor. The C1 version has a 20-bit encoder and only works with the ASDA-A2; the C2 version has a 17-bit encoder and works with the ASDA-B2 and the ASDA-A2.

Delta DVP PLC model numbers

The pattern is DVP, then the total number of input and output points, then the series code, then the power supply code, then the output type, then the generation digit on EH and EC models.

Field المعنى Examples
Points Inputs plus outputs, not inputs only 16, 24, 32, 40, 60, 80
Series PLC family EH for EH3, ES2, EC for EC3, ES3
Power supply Supply the controller accepts 00 is 100 to 240 V AC, 11 is 24 V DC
Output type Output stage R is relay, T is transistor NPN sinking, S is transistor PNP sourcing, M is differential line driver

Delta DOP-100 HMI model numbers

The pattern is DOP, then 1 for the 100 series, then the screen size, then the model type letter, then the resolution class letter.

Field المعنى Examples
Size Screen size 03 is 4.3 inch, 07 is 7 inch, 10 is 10.1 inch, 12 is 12 inch, 15 is 15 inch

Resolution Pixel resolution Q is 480 by 272, V is 800 by 480, S is 1024 by 600, G is 800 by 600, X is 1024 by 768

Worked example: DOP-110IS is a 10.1 inch panel, standard model with Ethernet and three COM ports, at 1024 by 600 pixels.

If you are replacing an older Delta DOP-B panel, the usual successors are DOP-B07S410 to DOP-107BV, DOP-B07S411 to DOP-107CV, DOP-B07E411 to DOP-107EV and DOP-B10S511 to DOP-110CS. The panel cut-out is not always identical, so confirm the cut-out dimensions before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I read a Delta VFD model number?

Older Delta series use the power code format: VFD, then the motor power in kW multiplied by ten, then the series letters, then the voltage and phase code, then a version letter. So VFD007B43A is 0.75 kW, VFD-B series, 380 to 480 V three-phase, version A. The MS300 and ME300 use the newer current code format instead, where the digits after VFD are the rated output current rather than the power.

What does 21, 23 and 43 mean in a Delta part number?

They are the supply voltage and phase. 21 means 200 to 240 V and accepts single-phase or three-phase, 23 means 200 to 240 V three-phase only, and 43 means 380 to 480 V three-phase. The same convention is used on both inverters and servo drives.

Which Delta VFD replaces the discontinued VFD-M, VFD-L, VFD-S and VFD-B?

Delta recommends the MS300 for VFD-M, VFD-L, VFD-S and the smaller VFD-B ratings, and the C2000 for the larger VFD-B and VFD-VE ratings. Match the motor current rather than the old model number when you select the replacement.

What is the difference between R and S at the end of a Delta ECMA motor part number?

Both mean a keyway shaft with a tapped centre hole and an oil seal fitted. R means no brake and S means a 24 V DC holding brake is fitted. So ECMA-C20807RS and ECMA-C20807SS are the same 750 W motor, without and with the brake.

What does the second character in ECMA-C2 or ECMA-C1 mean?

It is the encoder type, not the speed. ECMA-C2 carries a 17-bit incremental encoder and pairs with the ASDA-B2 and ASDA-A2. ECMA-C1 carries a 20-bit incremental encoder and pairs with the ASDA-A2 only. The rated speed is set by the first letter instead: C is 3000 rpm, E is 2000 rpm, F is 1500 rpm and G is 1000 rpm.

What do the letters L, M, F and E mean on a Delta servo drive?

They are the command and fieldbus options. L is the standard pulse, analog and Modbus model. M adds CANopen. F adds DMCNET, Delta’s own motion network. E adds EtherCAT. On the ASDA-E3 the L model is the pulse and Modbus version and the EtherCAT version is the E model.

How do I read a Delta DVP PLC part number?

DVP, then the total number of input and output points (inputs plus outputs, not inputs only), then the series code such as EH, ES2 or EC, then the power supply code (00 for 100 to 240 V AC, 11 for 24 V DC), then the output type, then the generation digit. So DVP32EH00T3 is 32 points, EH3 series, AC supply, transistor output, third generation.

What is the difference between R and T outputs on a Delta PLC?

R is a relay output, which handles AC and DC loads directly but switches slowly. T is an NPN sinking transistor output, which switches fast enough for pulse train control of steppers and servo drives. If the machine has a positioning axis you need the T version.

How do I read a Delta DOP-100 HMI part number?

DOP, then 1 for the 100 series, then the screen size, then the model type letter, then the resolution class letter. The model types are B basic, C standard general, E standard with Ethernet, I standard with Ethernet and three COM ports, W advanced narrow frame and M advanced multimedia. Resolution letters are Q for 480 by 272, V for 800 by 480, S for 1024 by 600, G for 800 by 600 and X for 1024 by 768.

Can RendatSP supply a complete Delta servo set with cables?

Yes. We normally quote the drive, the motor, the motor power cable and the encoder cable together, with the cable length matched to the distance between the panel and the machine, so the axis is complete when it arrives.
