The Siemens 6ES7288-5DT04-0AA0 is an SB DT04 signal board adding two 24 V DC inputs and two 24 V DC transistor outputs to an S7-200 SMART CPU.
When a machine is two points short – one more limit switch and one more valve – this board solves it for a fraction of the cost of an expansion module, and without widening the controller at all. The transistor outputs are also fast enough to be used as an additional pulse output for a stepper drive.
A signal board plugs into the recess in the front face of the CPU, so it adds function without adding a single millimetre to the width of the controller. Every expandable S7-200 SMART CPU takes exactly one signal board, and it can be fitted alongside the six EM expansion modules.
